What Causes Back Pain?
Back pain, neck pain, and headaches don’t appear out of the blue. Your back, like any other mechanism, will breakdown over time if it is used in an improper manner repeatedly.
For example, your back is composed of a spinal cord, nerves, bones, discs and muscles. Think of a zipper. If one tooth is out of line, the zipper doesn’t function properly. Now think of your spinal cord as the zipper, and the teeth of the zipper as your vertebras (bones). Your back will not function correctly if a vertebra is disturbed. The disc separates each vertebra from one another, while the nerve holds the discs and vertebra together. When the disc slips, it puts pressure on the nerve and causes pain. This pain can radiate into the legs or arms. Some patients do not feel pain, but they may feel numbness or a tingling sensation.
Fortunately, spinal decompression reduces the size of a bulging or herniated disc that creates the pain, and stimulates blood flow into the region allowing more nutrients to infuse into the disc to promote and stimulate healing in a natural way – the way your body is designed to heal itself.

What is Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuro-musculoskeletal conditions, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to healthcare that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.
In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Did You Know?
The focus on spinal adjustment makes chiropractors unique in treating patients with spinal complaints. The chiropractic adjustment, however, may not be the only procedure a chiropractor may employ in managing a patient’s care.
